Stylesheet did not load — you are NOT looking at the design. Check that ../_kit.css is reachable from this page.

MOCKUP — not the live site. The reduced navigation and the new footer, shown on their own so they can be judged without a page around them. The live nav has 8 items, each opening with an emoji; the live footer has 18 links and is 741px tall on a phone with no opening hours anywhere. Both measured 9 Aug 2026.
⚠️ Re-framed 10 Aug 2026: aikyam.space is being rebuilt in Astro, so this is a specification for the rebuild's chrome — not instructions for a Ghost admin screen. The unpublish table below is still the right list, but ⛔ unpublished is not deleted: those URLs need 301s, not 404s. See the migration constraint in COMPONENTS.md.

Nav and footer

The nav above is the proposal. Clubs comes first because the schedule is what somebody is usually here for.

Live todayProposedWhy
🍪 ClubsClubsMoves to first. It is the schedule, and the schedule is the product.
🎙️ Community Tales
⭐ Activities
StoriesTwo tag pages doing one job. Merged.
🤝🏾 Co-ImpactWho we are⛔ Was “Residency”, approved that morning and killed the same day — owner: “nothing called residency”, then “Who We Are will replace Changemakers and Residency”. One page: outside NGOs and aikyam's own projects. ⚠️ A live URL moves — see the note below
🌳 [ space ]AboutA bracketed word is a logo, not a label. ⭐ And it stays: /about-us/ is the site's 2nd-biggest Google landing page at 767 views, though it is dead.
🫂 TeamTeamUnchanged.
✉️ ContactVisit⚠️ My proposal, not his. “Contact” is what you do when something is wrong; “Visit” is what we want.
☀️ Daily ActivitiesDroppedPoints at one monthly post. Its forward half becomes the front page; its backward half becomes a story.

⛔⛔ “Residency” was approved and dead within the same day, and the reason is worth keeping. I argued it was a faithful shortening of “change makers in residence” and noted only that it dropped the who. ⭐ Dropping the “who” was not a rounding error — it was the whole page. The owner's ruling makes that page a list of organisations working in the space, so the half I discarded as the less important one was the half that named what the page is about. A label that keeps the arrangement and drops the people describes the room, not its occupants.

⚠️ And “Who we are” has its own naming problem, which is mine to raise. It reads like About. It is the phrase every site uses for the story of the outfit — which is what About and Team already hold between them — so three nav items would all answer “who?” and a reader would guess wrong. ⭐ Recommendation: keep his content exactly and label it “In the space”, or “Partners” if that reads too oblique. The page lists who works here; the name should say so. His call — it is a word, not a decision about the page.

⛔ A live URL moves because of this. /change-makers-in-residence/ carries 95 visitors over six months and must 301 to the new page. It is recorded in ASTRO-PLAN.md §0b today, as a decision — every other entry in that section is archaeology, a URL somebody moved and left behind. This is the first one we are moving on purpose, and therefore the first with no excuse.

Why the emoji go

They render differently on every phone, cannot take a colour, and are read aloud by screen readers under their full names — “handshake, medium-dark skin tone” before “Co-Impact”. And 🍪 next to “Clubs” reads as a cookie banner before it reads as a biscuit. Six words do not need pictures.

Six pages proposed for unpublishing

Measured 9 Aug 2026: four of these render a heading and nothing else, and all six are offered to search engines in the sitemap.

PageWhat it rendersCall
/editors-picks/No h1 at all — chrome onlyUnpublish
/categories/22 charactersUnpublish
/event-status/28 charactersUnpublish — the front page answers this now
/jobs/6 characters, and its h1 says “Events”Unpublish
/recommendations/One link to another siteUnpublish
/membership/Prices in $ — “Free $0”, “Tiny Enterprise $50 /year”✅ Unpublish — owner ruled 10 Aug 2026, not re-priced

Unpublishing changes URLs. Anything with inbound links or search traffic should be redirected, not deleted — and nobody has checked which of these six has either. On the sister project this exact step sent 96,883 impressions to a 404.

The footer

Three columns instead of five blocks. The first one is new: the live site publishes no opening hours anywhere, so a neighbour cannot find out when the door is open without reading a club page.

The hours below are derived from the published club times, not from a stated opening policy — the space has never published one. If the room is open outside session hours, these are wrong and only the owner can say so.
